GNI Amp Simulator
Our good buddy Charlie introduced us to these pedals from Brazil, that’s right Brazil... They’re kinda retro looking and built like tanks. And, oh yeah, they sound great!
The AS1 Amp Simulator is exactly that, an amp simulator, which allows you to get tones simulating your favorite tweed-type American amp, or a very crunchy British tone to that singing Mesa-Boogie type amp.
Like all GNI pedals, the AS-1 has a true-buffer bypass, to maintain your guitar signal integrity.
On top of that, there is a switch to simulate microphone placement for recording! Oh yeah, and did we mention the AS-1 also has a seperate clean boost? A truly versatile pedal for those of you who don’t want to carry all of those different kinds of amps to the gig...
Here are a few features of the AS1:
• The GNI AS1 Amp Simulator is a “two in one” pedal, acting as an amplifier simulator, a booster pedal or both things at the same time.
• Three switches (mic, mod & amp) offer 27 different combinations of microphone position, amplifier characteristics and saturation (“drive”). Five potentiometers let you control drive, level and complete equalization (low, mid and high frequencies). An extra potentiometer lets you set booster’s gain. In addition, this bad boy also features a True Buffer Bypass circuit like all GNI pedals. The buffer lowers the impedance of the guitar signal preserving high end and level.
GNI AS1 Amp Simulator Controls:
• Drive: This adjusts the amount of distortion (“drive”) of the pedal.
• Low, Mid & High: These three controls allow you to equalize the sound, adjusting intensities of the respective ranges of frequencies.
-

• Level: Effect’s output level. Note that if level is high and you activate the booster, you’ll probably get some additional distortion.
• Boost: This adjusts booster’s intensity, from 0 to 8dB.
• MIC: This simulates three different positions of the microphone capturing amplifier’s sound. Settings are off. (off-centered), cent. (centered) e class. (classical).
• MOD: This lets you change global saturation (distortion) of the pedal. Settings are hot (most distorted), warm (medium) e clean.
• AMP: Simulate characteristics of three of the most popular amplifiers. Settings are: body (Mesa-Boogie), crunch & tweed.
• Effect led: Indicates when effect is on.
• Booster led: Indicates when booster is active. Its color also changes according to booster’s intensity setting.
