Extra Deep Hollow Neck Weissenborn Type Hawaiian Steel
Here's the latest from our buddies at Imperial Guitars. It's a Weissenborn style lap steel with an extra deep body AND an extra deep hollow neck. Yep, it sounds BIG and resonant.
A typical Weissenborn is about 3 or 3 1/2" deep inches deep tapering down to about 1 3/4" at the nut. Ours is 5 inches deep tapering to 3 1/2 " at the nut. Does it make a difference? Oh, yes. It surely does. This instrument is just too much fun.
It’s constructed of Sapele, an African mahogany known for it's “ribbon” figure, with rosewood fingerboard and bridge and maple bindings. The inlaid position markers are also maple. The nut is real bone and the bridge saddle is solid brass. It has a 24 3/4" scale like an early Rickenbacker or original Weissenborn. It has a fully bound top, back and fingerboard.
All this and you can add an under-saddle pickup with built-in preamp for a mere $69.00 and a custom hard shell case for $79.00.
